The Mission of our practice is to serve our patients by providing optimum oral health and quality care in a caring, comfortable environment. We are dedicated to excellence, personal growth, spiritual growth, and continuing education.
In our health – centered practice we are devoted to the philosophy of maximum dental longevity — to have our patients keep their teeth for a lifetime in a state of health, function and pleasing appearance. Meet AJ Carangelo D.D.S
Since opening our doors 37 years ago, we have grown our practice one patient at a time through deep relationships and state-of-the art services along with the best standard of care for the residents of our community and surrounding areas. With this mission in mind, Dr. Carangelo works to bring expanded services to the area with the same level of excellence.
Dr. Carangelo received his undergraduate degree (BA, Economics) from the University of North Carolina in 2018. He graduated from UNC's School of Dentistry May of 2022 and joined the practice soon after in June of 2022.
Dr. Carangelo was raised in Troutman, NC and is extremely personable while having a skill set to bring expanded services to the community including implants, extractions, grafting, select wisdom tooth removal, and endodontics. While at UNC School of Dentistry Dr. Carangelo was awarded 2022 International Congress of Oral Implantology Pre-doctoral Student Achievement award, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Award. Outside of his passion for excellence in dentistry his interests include hunting, fishing, working out, guitar, cars, and rooting on his alma mater - UNC.
Meet William Welborne D.D.S.
Dr. William Welborne is a native of Huntersville, NC and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He stayed in Chapel Hill for dental school and received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from UNC Adams School of Dentistry in 2023. During his time in dental school, he received the Henry Zaytoun Award for Professionalism and Ethics. Upon graduation, he completed an additional year of specialty training through an AEGD program at a community health clinic in Virginia, focusing on providing dental care to underserved patients.
Dr. Welborne enjoys forming meaningful relationships with patients and helping them achieve their dental goals in a comfortable environment. With excellence and comfort in mind, he looks forward to improving not only dental health but also overall quality of life through relationship centered care. For Dr. Welborne, dentistry is the perfect combination of artistry, science, and relationships.
In his free time, Dr. Welborne enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, traveling, and cheering on the UNC Tar Heels.
His youngest daughter, Ali (UNC graduate) is married to Tyler Lewis and they currently reside in Winston Salem, NC. Tyler works for Phenum Hoops and Ali is a part time staff member. They have 3 sons: Nash (age 3), and twins Teague and Tru (20 months).
Dr. Burgiss is an active member of Western Avenue Baptist Church in Statesville. Dr. Burgiss has been involved with dental missions at the Open Door Clinic, the NC Mission of Mercy, and has been on mission trips to Russia, Venezuela, and Belize. Some of his special interests include bird hunting, tennis, travel, snow skiing, and all sports (especially Carolina basketball), and hanging with his 5 grandsons.

Brenda
Brenda has been in dentistry for 37 years. She’s had the privilege to work for Dr. Burgiss and now Dr. Carangelo. As office manager she works toward making each patient feel special, comfortable, and welcome when they walk through the door. She resides in Union Grove with her 2 dogs and a cat. She’s actively involved in ministry in the community and enjoys spending time with family and church family and working outside.
Kristy
Kristy comes from a large family of 6 children and grew up on a farm in Yadkinville. She has two daughters, Kelsey and Kyndall. They own a salon in Bermuda Run and on the days she's not with us at the office she's managing her daughter's salon. She still goes to the same church she grew up in and sings in the choir. She loves Sunday lunches after church at her parents with her sisters. She started working for Dr. Jack King in 1990 and has been working in the dental field for 34 years. “I joined our office in December of 2022 and I'm so thankful to have found a home that shares my same values and beliefs. I am grateful to work for Dr. Burgiss and Dr. Carangelo and be part of this fantastic team.” - Kristy White
Kim S.
Kim is a full-time dental hygienist. She graduated from Guilford Technical Community College and has 24 years of experience. She prides herself on listening to her patient’s needs and being thorough but gentle. Kim lives in Wilkes County and is married to her high school sweetheart, Eric. They have two children, Elizabeth and Eli. Elizabeth is in college to become a Physical Therapy Assistant. Eli is a student at North Wilkes High School where he plays football, basketball and baseball. In their spare time they enjoy hiking, kayaking and traveling to national parks. They are also very involved in their church, Little Mountain Baptist, where they both teach Sunday School.
Kim G.
Kim is a full time hygienist, and has been with the office since 2005. Kim graduated from Wilkes Community College as a dental assistant and Catawba Valley Community College as a dental hygienist. Kim has 26 years of experience, 23 of them as a dental hygienist and 19 with Dr. Burgiss and Dr. Carangelo. Kim and her husband Brandon have two daughters, Timber, age 13, and Brinley, age 11, and live in Union Grove along with 8 dogs and 4 cats. Kim and her family attends Union Grove Christian Church. Kim’s interests are spending time with family and friends, watching her kids dance and play volleyball, traveling, kayaking, riding four wheelers, and projects around the house.
Traci
Traci has worked in the dental field as a certified dental assistant for over 28 years. She and her husband are both from Statesville and are blessed to be the parents of two amazing boys, Kyleand Cade.They attend Beulah Baptist Church. When they’re not running around between her children'ssporting events, they love to hang out with family and friends.
Amanda
Amanda is one of our part time dental assistants. She graduated from Wilkes Community College and has worked in dentistry for 15 years, and has been with Dr. Carangelo for those. Amanda and her husband Michael live in Statesville, along with their two children, Abbey and Aiden. They also have two German Shepherds, and are members at Beulah Baptist Church. In her free time Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and vacationing at either the beach or the mountains.
Hollie
Hollie is new to our team but isn’t new to dentistry. She has been a dental assistant for 21 years, and takes pride in giving excellent dental care to her patients. Hollie lives in Harmony with her husband Shane, and their two children Lucas and Lexie. Hollie enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She also loves the beach and enjoys reading and crocheting. Hollie and her family attend Hebron Baptist Church.
Natalie
Natalie Barzee is a Registered Dental Hygienist with 27 years of experience. She graduated from West Liberty University in West Liberty, WV. She strives to ensure that each patient leaves the office with an exceptional dental experience! Over the years she has honed her skills and developed techniques to deliver patient comfort when providing a good quality cleaning. She was born and raised in Utah, but currently lives in Union Grove, NC as of 19 years. She absolutely loves the area and wonderful people in the community. Natalie enjoys spending time with her family, loves the outdoors, hunting, fishing, going to the lake, gardening, planting flowers and is very active in her church & youth program. Natalie and her family attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Over the years Natalie has found joy in her profession, and loves the people she serves!
Ali
Ali is a part of the administrative team and is in charge of accounts payable. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is the now retired Dr. Burgiss's daughter. She has been in dentistry for 5 years, and 4 of those years working for Dr. Carangelo. Ali and her husband, Tyler, live in Winston Salem. They have three boys, Nash and twins, Teague & Tru. They also have two dogs, and are members at Two Cities Church. Ali enjoy sspending time with her family, trips to the beach and cooking.
Lisa
Lisa is a certified dental assistant and been with Dr. Burgiss and now Dr. Carangelo for 26 years. Lisa is awesome at making patients feel comfortable and welcome. She lives in Yadkinville with her husband, Rhyne. Their daughter, Andrea married Preston Smith in 2017 who now live in Wilkesboro with their daughter Mary Evelyn. Lisa and Rhyne are active members of Fishing Creek Arbor Baptist Church. She enjoys family time, beach, and mountain vacations, decorating, flowers, directing weddings, shopping, and volunteering at church and in the community.
Jessica
I'm a dental hygienist with 18 years experience. I’m passionate about caring for others both professionally and personally. I’m happily married, an active member of Mountain Road Baptist Church and work as a part-time travel agent. I enjoy traveling, crocheting, anything crafty, and love making memories with my family, especially my nieces and nephews. I value serving others in all areas of life.
